Paid Surveys Glossary

This is the place to find all of the glossary terms used in the online survey industry. There are hundreds of survey related terms, covering all aspects of the industry.

Panel - A group of people from different demographic backgrounds that particiapte in many studies.  

Participant - A person that agrees to participate in a a market research study.

Peer Review - Review of a clinical trial by experts chosen by the study sponsor. These experts review the trials for scientific merit, participant safety, and ethical considerations.

 

Poll - A quick informal survey of opinion. A poll is often used for quickly gathering information. ex: election exit poll

Population - The total number of inhabitants occupying an area.

Prize - A cash or prize for participation in a survey or other market research study.

Product Tester - A person that tries out a product before it is launched.

Projections - A prediction or estimate of an actual value in a future time period.  For employment it is based on a time series or for a situation it is based on a cross-section of data.  Forecast, prediction and projection are typically used interchangeably.  Projections of employment are based on historical employment and economic indicators input into mathematical models with national, state and local trends factored into the overall model.
